Finally got around to making some changes here including a new WordPress theme that I made a few changes to. Might tweak it a bit more but it’s better than it started out as.

While working on it I noticed just how much of a slacker I am when it come to posting here. Like 3 or 4 months in between updates. I’m going to change that. I know I’ve said it before but this time I’m sticking to it. I’ve actually put a pop-up notice on my Google calendar to remind me every Wednesday to make a post here that way I won’t have the excuse of forgetting about it. I pretty much live by my Google calendar anymore so that should work.

I don’t think I’m going to go back and post any older photos even though I have tons that I could. Instead I’m going to only post more recent stuff, no more than a week or two old. Going to make an exception in this post though for a photo from last months trip to New Orleans for the Imaging USA expo and convention. Actually I might write out a longer review of my trip down there while I’m at the laundromat later today but for now I’m going to bed.

Ok, so I kind of failed at my weekly blogging attempt. I seem to be lucky to get a monthly one in. I am going to give it another go though. I have a couple ideas in mind to make myself update this more often. One of the things I plan on doing is instead of posting full galleries on my Facebook pages I’m going to start just posting a teaser image there, then post a few of my favorite images from a set here on the blog and then the full gallery will be posted on my Zenphoto galleries. That will give me more control over the quality of the images too since Facebook likes to compress the hell out of uploads unless you use the hi-res option but that is way too slow.

Also I’m finalizing my price list and services offered page so that will be live soon. I’ve registered for some seminars and workshops to get a better grip on the business end of photography so there’s a good chance the prices will change after I complete those. That’s a month or so off though.

Until next time remember…

I really want to start doing a weekly full blog post, not just a random post of a few sentences like I do currently. Biggest problem with the idea is that writing for me is almost as painful as public speaking. Back in my whiskey drinking days I used to fill up notebooks thinking I was going to be the next Bukowski. Those days are thankfully over and the notebooks are as about as coherent as any any other drunk twenty-something’s writings are. If you want to read something that bad just go pick up something by Jim Morrison. It’s been about thirteen years since I’ve really sat down and written something longer than a few paragraphs which is coincidentally about how long I’ve been an internet junkie. This could get interesting.

So anyway, now I need to come up with a consistent theme. The only thing I love as much as photography is music so I guess I’ll try to come up with articles that tie the two together. I’m setting myself a deadline of June 1st to come up with the first one. If you’re an English major try not to laugh too much at whatever I put up here.

Busy weekend this week. Philosophy Inc opening at the Taubman and then Another Roadside Attraction at Studio Roanoke last night, various parties tonight, Marginal Arts parade and other events Saturday, grand nieces birthday party and then Illbotz photo shoot Sunday. I could get used to this.

Recently got around to upgrading to Photoshop CS5 and I have to say the content aware tool that is getting all the press is by itself definitely worth the upgrade. Here’s a quick example. No other tools were used and it took me less than 5 minutes to do. Of course if I were planning on printing it or if it was something important I would put a little more effort in cleaning it up. Click the photo for an animated before and after example.
